End of the Year Newsletter

Hello Friends and Supporters,

This has been a divergent year to say the least. As our world continues to circumnavigate the pandemic, organizations and businesses were forced to continue to change courses and evaluate their bottom lines.

In our case, our bottom line still remains promoting education, providing resources, and ultimately improving lives.

We’ve experienced some organizational changes that will really elevate our impact in 2022, of which we as an organization are elated. We created a taskforce of women that will lead the efforts on the ground with regards to our projects, campaigns, social media exposure, and more. We welcome Adamaris Gonzalez, Kristine Gonzalez, Jay Fernandez, and Zamaris Rodriguez to our operation task force.

“If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.” – Henry Ford

In addition, we welcomed a new board member to our Board of Directors. We are beyond ecstatic to welcome Rosalinda Saldana- Rodriguez who brings a wealth of knowledge and nonprofit experience to the table. We are certain that these pivots will set us on an ambitious path towards deeper access points for the sake of education equity for all.

The senior leadership of the organization have stayed productive and goal-oriented. Mónica R. Rodriguez continues her journey as an educator at Veritas Academy, a Scholé homeschooling co-op community that employs the content of classical curriculum and the pedagogy of restful learning that is doing innovative things in education while she expands her content creating business and more. Charise Roldan began her journey at The Miracle Center, a cultural community arts center that exists to attract, re-focus, and transform the lives of diverse youth and families by coaching, mentoring, training, and providing academic development through their unique creative arts platform in Chicago. She forges ahead to earn a second master’s degree in School Leadership at Northeastern Illinois University in 2022. Joel Gonzalez has deepened his visual storytelling with Weourstory, and now sits on the Board of Education for District 100, bringing his exposure and experience in education to our discussions and vision casting. Sofia Gonzalez has earned two national fellowships with Latinos for Education and Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms. She was also a finalist with the Presidential Leadership Program, and a nominee for Educator of the Year with Latinx Education Collaborative. She remains at her home district of Morton East High School in her 13th year of teaching. Her focus remains seeking opportunities for the organization and beyond that will soon impact policy and other important EDU stakeholders.

Lastly, we as an organization have some upcoming dreams and networks we are strengthening and developing. In this upcoming year, we will be partnering with nonprofit United Planet as we address the increase of gender discrimination and banning of girls education due to the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Stay tuned for some exciting projects.

In addition, we will continue to gift teachers and embolden our Her Turn girl’s education campaign with girls scholarships. What’s more, our pilot program for Her Turn in El Salvador is going strong as we continue to support the girls of Tia Ana’s Home with basic school supplies, nutrition, transportation, and wifi.

Our goal is also to get back on planes and provide resources in person! Travel is on our radar and something that the team has always enjoyed and held close to our hearts.

All this couldn’t be possible without you. Your support. Your belief with us that all students matter and that indeed the world truly is a global classroom.

We wanted to wish you all a wonderful holiday season, and it’s our hope you continue to journey with us into 2022.

It’s not too late to engage our Patreon Page of membership and perks. There’s so much work to be done, and we can’t complete it without your backing.

Stay safe, healthy, and may this upcoming year bring you a joy unshakable.

Thanks for championing with us regarding this profound truth that education is a fundamental right and not a privilege for the select few.

In solidarity,
